Woke up in the middle of the night. Hmm, furnace sounds a little weird. An intermittent motor sound that I don’t remember. Meh, rolled over and went back to sleep. Woke a few hours later, hmm, still sounds kinda weird.
Getting the day started, hmm, furnace running but it’s blowing cold. Oh, no, that can’t be good. Let it run for a bit just to make sure, then waltzed over to the thermostat and sure enough 4 degrees below target temp. Thankfully, its not terribly cold outside this morning.
I’m sure our property manager is gonna love an emergency no heat call on Sunday morning (especially after numerous service tickets from us currently in play.)
Ok, let’s go for the hail mary repair first. Turned off HVAC system and waited a bit for fans to kick off. Then, crossed my fingers and turned it back on. Unit goes into heat mode immediately. Hmm, still feels kinda cold out of the vents. Thankfully, a few minutes later, its back to making heat.
So immediate crisis averted, but I suspect the HVAC system is ill or needs a tune up at the very least (hasn’t been serviced in the 3 years we’ve been here, sigh.)
