Ah, memories. I remember back to high school, in my Principles of Engineering class, where we tried to build a similar device for sorting marbles using FischerTechnik kits. They had a serial PC interface that was programmed with GW-Basic.
I’m not sure if we were just too low tech, or the sensor wasn’t capable of color, but we only got as far as light vs. dark for our marbles.
