Recently, I was downloading an excel file in Firefox on Mac. In the download manager, I got this strange looking jack-in-the-box icon:
Strange, indeed. Never saw that for any other downloads.
At first I thought it was just because my Mac didn’t know what an XLS file is. But, then I remembered that I still have the Microsoft Office free trial installed. So, when I looked for the file on the desktop after the save, it looked fine:
Anybody else seen anything like that before?
I have the same icon on my mac and it appears in the download box for any MS doc, whether XLS or WORD. It si somehting called ResEdit 1.07, a “resource editor” developed by some Apple guys, but I have no idea what a resource editor is, how it showed up, if it is prt of a larger problem, etc. I still have the free trial installed as well, so I suspect that might have something to do wiht it….based on what you mentioned. At least i hope so…
