Happy Thanksgiving

We’ve been having a nice quiet morning this Thanksgiving.  A big breakfast, then some cartoons and the Macy’s Parade on TV.  Also managed to work in a nice walk in the warmer than average November sun.  We’re headed to meet up with more family for turkey in a little bit.

Before tucking Jilly in a little nap time, we read a book.   I sent to her to the shelf, and she came back with a book I hadn’t seen before:

Ok, [amazon_link id=”0142403628″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Fireboat[/amazon_link], works for me.  I was getting kind of sick of reading the [amazon_link id=”0831774088″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Disney’s Robin Hood[/amazon_link] and [amazon_link id=”1403732493″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Let’s Investiggerate[/amazon_link] books over and over again, anyway.

Everything was great for the first two thirds of the book.  Then I realized this was a kids book about 9/11.  Man, I had a tough time getting through the last few pages;  I was about a second or two away from tearing up.  Had to stop a few times because my voice was breaking up.

I was pretty happy that Jilly didn’t ask too many questions.  I’m sure she will ask more the next time we read that book.  I guess I should start readying some answers.

Oh well, I guess that little shock to the system was a good reminder on how much I have to be thankful for.  I’ve got a great wife and 2 great wingnuts kids, all in relatively good shape these days.  Throw in our families and friends and we’re doubly blessed.

That’s enough waxing for now, have to put on my eating pants and ingest turkey until I pass out. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
