Fearless by Pink Floyd

A solid lesser know track from Meddle.

Claude had some interesting commentary:

• Theme: It’s about persistence and quiet defiance — the courage it takes to stick to your own path even when others think you’re foolish or naive for doing so. The recurring idea is that the “fearless” person keeps climbing their hill their own way, indifferent to the crowd’s doubts.
• Tone: Unlike a lot of anthemic rock about triumph, it’s understated — more wry and reflective than bombastic, in keeping with the band’s early-70s style before The Dark Side of the Moon.
• Music: Written mainly by David Gilmour and Roger Waters, it’s built on a distinctive open guitar tuning (Gilmour used a non-standard tuning to get its ringing, folky quality), giving it a warm, almost pastoral feel compared to the heavier tracks around it on the album.
• That famous outro: The song closes with a recording of Liverpool F.C. fans singing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” at Anfield — a real field recording, not the band performing it. It’s an odd, almost jarring juxtaposition that adds a communal, anthemic note to an otherwise solitary song.
