Repair Rage, Part III
Oh, lawd. After that last repair another big leak popped out, just down the line from a previous repair. This one was pretty big, besides pumping a load of sand out of the trench, it hollowed out a big cavity below the ground.
Cue the rage. I dug up from the end of the last repair all the way over to a new section I repaired late last year. I even went back a few more feed to replace a different junction while I was there. All in all about 20 feet of trench.

So. Much. Digging. 1 hour Sunday night, another hour last night.
The actual line replacement is easy. 2 cuts for the old pipe, 1 cut for the length of the replacement, and then jam on 2 compression couplers. Tested the zone and no leaks.
I reburied half the line last night. My back was tired and didn’t want to risk blowing it out completely. So, I guess I’ll have some more fun soon to finish burying the rest of the line. Sigh.
I’d like to think I’m getting good at irrigation repairs, but I’m sure something else will break soon enough and I’ll be up to my elbows in mud again.
