Nearly tapped out...
So, I was trying to do a seemingly simple tech administrivia task; I just wanted to add a public key login to my Synology so some backup scripts could run without me needing to login manually.
Even through the process is pretty straight forward (make a key pair on client, copy public key to server), I can never remember the specific details, so I have a note. I deployed the process and hmm, its still asking for a password when I try to log in.
Claude, can I get hand please?
An hour and half of futzing around, it found the problem. Synology has some weird combination of ssh and windows ACL stuff going on. A certain ACL rule that seemed to have nothing do with the account I was trying to use the actual blocker. Without Claude, I’m pretty sure I never would have figured out this out (or how to fix it.)
I removed the problematic rule and now things are working as expected and I have to scroll back through pages and pages of Claude output to find the backup process that I was working on originally.
