Two albums in high rotation this week:
- Gurrumul – Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu. I picked up Wiyathul as the Starbucks iTunes free pick of the week a few weeks ago. Most of these freebies are pretty lame, but this one was strikingly good. Gurrumul is a little hard to describe, but here goes; I think he sounds like Robert Bradley crossed with Jack Johnson, with a little extra Iz on the side. Laid back, but powerful at the same time.
- Brothers – The Black Keys. I’ve been listening to the Black Keys for a while based on a recommendation from a buddy and hearing a bunch about them on the NPR. Their last few albums were pretty catchy, the but Brothers really knocks it out of the park. Solid rock and roll power and heavy voiced lyrics to match.
